Miles Teller: Dad Wanted Me to Get ‘War Dogs’ Role

This weekend, the biographical crime comedy War Dogs hits theaters. The film stars Miles Teller and Jonah Hill as arms dealers David Packouz and Efraim Diveroli who end up getting a contract with the U.S. government to supply weapons to the Afghan military, despite only being in their early 20s. When it was first announced that a movie was going to be made about Packouz and Diveroli, Teller’s father encouraged Teller to get a role in the film.

“My dad actually sent me an email once he read that [director Todd Phillips’] company Green Hat had gotten the rights to this story,” Teller told BackstageOL’s Dave Morales. “He was like ‘Miles, tell your boy Todd,’ because Todd produced a film I was in about two years before. He’s like ‘Tell your boy Todd, you know, you gotta be in this movie, man. You’re perfect for it.’”

“Sure enough, I saw [Phillips] in a restaurant and I said, ‘Look, my dad said you gotta put me in this movie,” Teller said with a laugh.
