Original ‘Ghostbusters’ Composer Reacts to Fall Out Boy’s Cover

Last month, Fall Out Boy released their cover of the iconic track “Ghostbusters” featuring Missy Elliott for the upcoming film reboot. The song, which is very different from the original version from 1984, has received mixed reviews. Many are not happy with it.

In an interview with Inside Edition, Ray Parker Jr., the composer of the original tune, said that he thought the cover was “interesting.”

“I’m not gonna say whether it’s good or bad,” he stated. “I’m just gonna say maybe I’m an old guy now and I like it the old way.”

“I wish they had called me to maybe work with some of the younger guys and help them get a direction,” he continued. “Because some of the main things that you should do with the music to a film like that, some of the young guys just didn’t do that at all.”

Ghostbusters arrives in theaters on July 15th. Watch Parker’s interview below:
