Mel Gibson is returning to the big screen as a father who seeks to protect his daughter from a drug cartel that is out to get her in the action thriller Blood Father.

Jean-François Richet directed the film, which also stars Erin Moriarty, Michael Parks, William H. Macy and Diego Luna. It is based on the 2006 novel of the same name by Peter Craig, who penned the film along with Andrea Berloff.
