Shia LaBeouf’s latest performance art project will consist of him road-tripping across the United States – and using Twitter’s hashtag #TakeMeAnywere (project’s twitter: @thecampaignbook) for fans to, literally, take him anywhere.
LaBeouf is tweeting out his GPS coordinates and letting fans pick him up and take him anywhere they’d like. The 30-day hitchhike project, running May 23rd through June 23rd, will be documented in real time on takemeanywhere.vice.com. Fellow artists Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner are also joining LaBeouf on this trip.

According to TIME, a group of fans raced to pick up the actor and detailed their experience via a video blog.
Brandon Glanton, who is an artist and musician from Denver, explained to TIME: “[LaBeouf] was talking about his upbringing and how he was raised by a single mother. To have everyone sitting down there, having lunch with him, it was so cool that he was so receiving. He was more humble than you can ever imagine. He kept referring to himself as a mirror,” Glanton continued.
“He was saying that if he’s a mirror that puts out good, then good will reflect back to him.” His fans explained that, that’s also part of the reason the star believes he won’t be harmed during the project.
However, the concept #TakeMeAnywhere wasn’t created by LaBeouf. It was commissioned by the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and the Finnish Institute in London for the MediaLive festival, Vanity Fair reports. It also appears to be a collaboration with Vice, because the project’s landing page is hosted on Vice‘s website.
