Kanye West Freestyles About Charleston Shooting Massacre

While performing at Hot 107.9’s Birthday Bash in Atlanta on Saturday night, Kanye West performed a freestyle rap about racism in America, referencing the tragic massacre in Charleston.

“I think there’s a couple more things that they owe us,” West said. “Don’t let them make you believe that I’m crazy.”

He continued, “See that’s the magic of racism, it works on itself. We hate each other, screw each other, kill each other. When we can’t kill nobody else. See that’s the magic of lack of resources, it works on itself. Five-hundred n—as getting pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-pop-popped, and North [sic] Carolina didn’t help. See that’s the magic of racism, it works on itself.”

Various artists have spoken out about the shooting that took place in a Charleston church last week, such as Killer Mike who posted on Twitter his beliefs and Lupe Fiasco who published a three-part letter on Instagram. Fiasco began the letter, “Dear White Supremacy,” with three accompanying images of Dylann Roof, the 21-year old shooter who was charged with nine counts of murder. “One color does not dominate the other nor can it,” he wrote.
