Katie Holmes will reprise her role of Jackie Kennedy in a new Reelz Channel miniseries called The Kennedys: After Camelot.
After Camelot will be a follow-up to the eight-episode 2011 miniseries The Kennedys. Holmes starred in the miniseries as the former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and will reprise her role again in the follow-up series.
“Katie elegantly portrayed Jackie Kennedy in the first miniseries and now will continue the role as Jackie grows into the Jackie O that the world knows best,” said Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard. The Kennedys: After Camelot is based on the best seller After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present by J. Randy Taraborrelli.
Holmes will also serve as an executive producer and direct one of the four installments. Jon Cassar, who directed all eight episodes of The Kennedys in 2011, will direct the other three episodes in the new miniseries. Production will begin in 2015 and is planned to premiere on the Reelz Channel sometime in 2016.
