Over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, pop star Ariana Grande dropped everything to be by her grandfather’s side as he battles cancer.
The “Problem” singer has cancelled her UK tour appearances while she stays with her ailing relative at a hospital in Florida and asks her fans to understand. “Want to say thank u to my UK loves for UK loves for my first no 1 over there with problem!” she posted in a Twit pic. “So wish I could be there to celebrate. I’m sorry I had to cancel my trip especially given the circumstances. I love you so much.”
Ariana has been updating fans on her grandpa’s condition and paying homage to her ancestor as he fights for his life in the hospital through a series of emotional tweets. In one tweet, the 21-year-old singer professed how “incredible” her grandpa is, writing, “wish u knew how incredible he is…. humble, respectful, hardworking, polite, thoughtful, humorous, generous. an example for all gentlemen.”
She continued with the heartbreaking plea, asking her grandpa to pull through.

As of now, Ariana has no planned tour dates in the U.K. However, the “Baby I” singer tweeted that she’d “try my hardest to reschedule my trip out there! can’t thank u enough for ur understanding during this time. love u.”
