Jack White’s ‘Lazaretto’ Debuts At No. 1

Jack White is two-for-two!

Following the success of his solo debut Blunderbuss, which topped the albums chart when released back in 2012, White has earned the second No.1 of his solo career. That’s right. The White Stripes guru’s Lazaretto debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 200 this week, selling 138,000 copies in its first week.

While Lazaretto sits gloriously in the top spot of this week’s Billboard 200 chart, the new album also holds the record for largest sales week for a vinyl album. In total, the vinyl LP has pushed 40,000 copies, accounting for a whopping 28.9 percent of Lazaretto‘s first-week sales. No other vinyl album has sold this large in number since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.

The high-demand for the vinyl version of the album is largely due to its fancy bonus features. The vinyl edition of Lazaretto is a three speed album, featuring two vinyl-only hidden tracks that are situated under the labels on the record, one playing at 78 rpm and one at 45 rpm, and a hand-etched hologram of an angel by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science in the dead wax of Side A.

Jack White’s Lazaretto was released on June 9 via White’s own label Third Man and XL Recordings.
