Molly Schuyler is a beast! Even though she’s only 5-foot-7 and weighs 135 pounds, the Bellevue, Nebraska native set a new world record at Texas’ most famous steakhouse, the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo.
Not only did she set a new world record by devouring a 72 ounce steak with baked potato, shrimp, a salad, and a bread roll in only 4 minutes 58 seconds, but she devoured a second 72 ounce steak with all the fixings in under 10 minutes.
We witnessed history,” Big Texan co-owner Danny Lee told the Amarillo Globe-News. “If there’s a zombie apocalypse, I want to stay away from this girl.” Lee says that he was shocked that a woman with such a small frame could finish such an enormous meal and in so little time, adding, “This little girl walked in here and … she’s one of the daintiest, smallest ladies that I’ve see try the 72-ounce steak.”
Schulyer is no stranger to eating competitions. She recently won a $22,000 prize in Philadelphia for eating 363 wings in 30 minute. Ridiculous!
Surprisingly, the young lady wasn’t even going full speed on her second steak. “The second one, I wasn’t going really for time,” said Schuyler. “There was no point. I had to do it in under an hour, so I was fine.”
On her YouTube page she says that she will definitely return to face the challenge again, but will not have the steak butterflied. “It was a total disadvantage for me,” she wrote.
She plans to shatter her old record by finishing her first steak in “well under 4 min” and is going to “try and do 3 whole meals under an hour.” Can somebody get this lady a Tums endorsement!?
Schuyler claims that the hardest part of the competition is to not choke on the food. “Just be careful when you eat steak,” she said. “It’s a very chokeable food.”
Watch out Takeru Kobayashi! It looks like Schuyler has you in her sights!
