Piers Morgan is getting the boot from CNN. The network made the announcement on Sunday that the low-rated Brit’s “Piers Morgan Live” was being pulled only three years after taking over the Larry King time slot, which managed to stay on the air for a quarter century.
“It’s been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings,” said Morgan. “…Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it.”
The ratings were so bad that CNN president Jeff Zucker couldn’t handle it anymore. The show was getting less than 600,000 viewers, which is absurd for a network as popular as CNN. Not only did Morgan continually badger the guests on his show, but he continued his arguments on Twitter.
Fans become so annoyed with Morgan that a petition on WhiteHouse.gov was made to deport the Brit from the United States due to his advocacy against the 2nd amendment. The petition received the necessary 100,000 signatures, causing White House Press Secretary had to make an official statement to the public.
CNN has not yet commented on Piers Morgan’s future with the network.
