Everybody Loves Raymond, winner of 14 Emmy awards, will be inducted into the National Association of Broadcasters’ Broadcasting Hall of Fame on April 7 in Las Vegas at the NAB show.
Everybody Loves Raymond was created by Phil Rosenthal and executive-produced by Ray Romano, who also starred in the show, Rosenthal, Stu Smiley and Rory Rosegarten. The show was a hit because it combined comedic real life situations that audiences of all ages could relate to.The hilarious family sitcom ran for nine seasons (1996-2005) and ranked as one of the top 10 programs on television beginning with the 2000-2001 season. The series finale drew more than 32 million viewers in May 2005 when it completed its series run on CBS.
“Everybody Loves Raymond is a great example of high quality broadcast programming that provides family entertainment, resonates with audiences of all ages, and above all, makes us laugh,” said Gordon Smith, president and CEO of the NAB. “I look forward to meeting the cast members and writers and recognizing the show’s amazing success at this year’s NAB Show.”
Cast members expected to attend the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame show include Ray Romano, Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts, Brad Garrett, Monica Horan, along with the show’s creator, Phil Rosenthal and other writers from the show. The beloved Peter Boyle, who played Frank Barone on the show, passed away in 2006. Boyle will still be honored by his fellow cast members when the show is recognized at the 2014 NAB Show Television Luncheon.
The NAB 2014 show is the world’s largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums. The NAB will show will be held April 5-10 in Las Vegas, and the show is expecting more than 93,000 attendees from 156 countries during its five day exhibit.
