After winning six Grammy Awards with Andre 3000 in the hip-hop duo OutKast, Big Boi decided it was time for a new challenge and dropped his debut solo album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty in 2010.
The album’s most prominent single “Shutterbug” premiered on Big Boi’s Vevo site on May 28, 2010.
Although the song failed to break into the Billboard Top 40 in the United States, across the pond the song was a hit, peaking at #13 on the UK R&B singles chart. “Shutterbug” was even listed as the fifth best song of 2010 by indie rock magazine Pitchfork.
This just proves that you don’t have to have a radio hit to make your mark in the industry.
