The Simpsons are back and one of Springfield’s familiar faces is impending death.
The Simpsons, Fox’s longest-running comedy, has been on television for 25 seasons. The show has announced a regular character from the animated series will be killed off this season, which began on Sunday. A total of seven characters have been killed off in the series, including a gruesome death for Maude Flanders, Ned’s wife.
Executive producer Al Jean said in a recent conference, “We’re actually working on a script where a character will pass away. I’ll give a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is.” Jean hopes the episode will get “Breaking Bad-type numbers.”
Jean has also hinted at a Stan Lee-officiated wedding for Comic Book Guy and a “Futurama” crossover season finale.
Characters voiced by Emmy winners include: Hank Azaria as various characters including Moe, Cletus, Apu, Comic Book Guy, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Kelsey Grammar as villain Sideshow Bob and Dan Castellaneta as Homer Simpson.
