Pop star Lady Gaga has upheld her reputation as one of the few contemporary pop artists to go all-in on music videos. The “Poker Face” singer premiered a creative visual for her new single “Applause” early Monday morning (Aug.19) during an appearance on Good Morning America.
The highly stylized video is chaotic, cramming an awful lot into a short three minutes. The video features a ton of black-and-white imagery, a huge magician’s hat, an enormous birdcage, and lots of creative items covering up Gaga’s breasts.
The “Applause” single was released digitally on Tuesday (Aug. 13), and is expected to sell around 200,000 to 225,000 downloads in its first week. “Applause” is the first single from Gaga’s ArtPop, which is scheduled for a Nov. 11 release.
This Sunday (Aug. 25), Gaga will be performing “Applause” in the opening segment of the MTV Video Music Awards.
