Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead at the Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia authorities announced late Saturday night.

Monteith had checked into the hotel on July 6 and was expected to check out on Saturday.  When he had not checked out of the hotel, hotel staff visited the Glee star’s room and found him “clearly deceased” around noon.  Police have reviewed hotel surveillance tapes and have determined that Monteith was with some friends in his hotel room last night before going out on the town.  He returned to his hotel room early Saturday morning alone.

The Glee star had a history of substance abuse problems. In an interview with Parade magazine, Monteith admitted that he began taking drugs at the age of 13 and was forced to receive treatment when he was 19 when his mother and friends intervened. Earlier this year the 31-years-old checked into a rehab center to help him overcome his addiction with drug abuse. It was the second time Monteith received treatment for his addiction.

The coroner has announced that an autopsy is schedule for Monday and that her department will need a few days to determine the official cause of death of the late Glee star.  Officials have determined that his death was not caused by foul play.

Glee executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and FOX Broadcasting Company released a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
