Dave Chappelle is returning to stand-up comedy for the “Funny or Die Presents The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Tour.” The five week tour kicks off in Austin, TX on August 23 and travels through 13 cities when it ends in Phoenix, AZ on September 22. In addition to Chapelle, the tour will feature Flight of the Conchords, Demetri Martin, Hannibal Buress, Chris D’Elia, Jim Jefferies, John Mulaney, and Kristen Schaal. Brody Stevens will host the festival.
Since abruptly leaving his hit Comedy Central TV show, Chappelle’s Show, in 2005, Chapelle has only occasionally done a few stand-up sets in comedy clubs throughout the country.
“The Oddball Comedy & Curiosity Tour” is the first large-scale tour to be put on by Funny or Die. The tour’s promoter, Live Nation, has stated this is the largest comedy festival the company has ever promoted.
