American Idol seems to be losing its special touch. This past season brought in the lowest ratings ever for the show, forcing Idol to make harsh cuts to the upcoming summer tour, including the cancellation of tour dates around the country.
The American Idol summer tour will begin a month later that originally planned due to production scheduling changes. The Idol tour will now begin on July 19th, instead of June 29th and will have only 31 stops. Multiple stops on the tour were cancelled including St. Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Detroit, Las Vegas and Oakland.
Candice Glover, this past season’s winner will headline the tour alongside the show’s other top 10 contestants.
The past season of Idol has evoked more drama than ever before with the judges. There was constant arguing between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, which distracted viewers from the show and contestants’ true talent. Fox is still searching for new judges for the upcoming season, as Randy Jackson, Minaj and Carey are all leaving.
