Arnold Schwarzenegger Launching New TV Show ‘Pump’

Arnold Schwarzenegger, 65, is set to return to bodybuilding in his new TV series Pump. The body-builder turned action-movie star, and former California governor is now testing out his TV skills.   He has sold the rights for the TV series to the network Showtime.

The series will take place in Venice Beach, the southern California community that has long been a mecca of body-building. An hour-long pilot will be released before the show officially becomes a series. If the show is successful, Arnold will become a recurring character.

“The project traces the origin of the present-day fitness industry and culture of body worship to a single 1,000-square-foot concrete room on Pacific Avenue: a gym called Pump,” The Hollywood Reporter describes the proposed show.

Arnold first broke into Hollywood in 1970, but didn’t achieve great fame until starring in weightlifting film Pumping Iron in 1977. He is widely regarded as the most influential figure in the history of bodybuilding.
