Wesley Snipes has been released from prison after serving almost 26 months at the McKean Federal Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Inmate #43355-018 was released on April 2nd and moved to the New York Community Corrections Office where he will serve the remainder of his sentence in home confinement. His “house arrest” is expect to end on July 19th.
The timing of this release couldn’t have come at a better time since tax day is only a few days away. Maybe the IRS is using this early release as a message that tax payers must file their federal income tax forms. Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010 for misdemeanor failure to file a U.S. federal income tax return. Talk about the government making a statement.
Snipes is best known for his roles in the Blade trilogy and television show Miami Vice.
