The Muppets 2 (possibly titled The Muppets…Again), Brad Bird’s 1952, and Pirates of the Caribbean 5 will soon be coming to a theater near you.
Disney announced the sequel to 2011’s The Muppets will be hitting the big screen on March 21st, 2014. Although Jason Segel will not be involved in the sequel, director James Bobin, co-writer Nicholas Stoller and songwriter Bret McKenzie will return. The film’s plot involves Kermit and the gang traveling to Europe for a crazy adventure with Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey and Ty Burrell (Modern Family).
Brad Bird’s 1952 is expected to be released in theaters in time for Christmas 2014. No details about the film’s plot has been released. The film’s script is written by Damon Lindelof, co-creator of the hit television series Lost. 1952 will be Bird’s first return in the director’s seat since 2011’s Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Be sure to catch 1952 in theaters on December 19, 2014 in 3D.
On July 10th, 2015 Johnny Depp will return to the big screen as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 (title still pending). The film does not have a director, or a finished script by Jeff Nathanson for that matter, so plot details on the upcoming film are currently nonexistent. Either way, Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is sure to become a blockbuster. The franchise’s first four films have earned over $3.7 billion at the box office worldwide.
Other upcoming Disney film releases include Captain America: The Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014 and Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent on July 2, 2014.
