Charles Schulz’s ‘Peanuts’ to Become Animated Movie

Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus and the rest of the crew are coming to the big screen in 2015!  Twentieth Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios have acquired the rights to produce Charles Schulz’s famous ‘Peanuts’ cartoon into a full length animated movie.

The studio announced that Steve Martino ( Ice Age: Continental Drift and Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who!) will direct the upcoming untitled feature while Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz and Cornelius Uliano will pen the script.  Craig and Bryan are the son and grandson of ‘Peanuts’ founder Charles Schultz, respectively.

“We have been working on this project for years,” Craig Schulz released in a statment. “We finally felt the time was right and the technology is where we need it to be to create this film.”

The syndicated daily comic strip premiered on October 2, 1950 in nine newspapers.  At the height of its popularity, ‘Peanuts’ audience grew to over 355 million people in 75 countries reading the comic strip on a weekly basis.

The upcoming film is scheduled for a Nov. 25, 2015 release date.  That year will mark the 65th anniversary of ‘Peanuts’ debut and the 50th anniversary of the popular Christmas time television special A Charlie Brown Christmas.
