Redbox Will Begin Selling Concert Tickets and More!

Consumers are already aware of the financial hassle they go through when buying concert tickets through Ticketmaster/Live Nation company with their ridiculous service fee. Well Redbox will be the new revolution to live-event ticket buying. Yes that’s correct, Redbox, our beloved $1 DVD, $1.50 Blu-Ray, and video game rentals will now also be adding live-event tickets to its selection.

Coinstar’s Redbox will be selling live-event tickets such as concerts, sporting events, museums, state fairs and more. The tickets will be sold at face value price and the service fee will only just be $1. Redbox will launch the new feature first to its 650 kiosks in Philadelphia and online by mid-October. By early next year the company will expand the program to Los Angeles but there is no word yet on when the program will expand nationally to all of its 38,500 kiosks.

Redbox President Anne Saunders said in an interview on Wednesday, “the new business adds unquestionable longevity to Redbox by extending it into a new form of entertainment”. This low service fee program creates a potential new challenge to Live Nation Entertainment Inc. which has become world’s largest ticket seller through its Ticketmaster division.
