The Killers will be pairing up with Werner Herzog for a live concert webcast in September that is said to be full of surprises for fans.
Just in time for the U.S. release of The Killers new album Battle Born on September 18th, that day they will also be doing a live webcast concert for the American Express Unstaged series. The Amex concert series, which this year will be the 11th installment, pairs up rock stars with celebrated directors for these concerts that will be streamed live via VEVO and YouTube.
The Killers will be working with director Werner Herzog, which the band picked the filmmaker for his unique ideas. “He has ideas for someone crowd-surfing with a camera on,” says Killers bassist Mark Stoermer and “He’s gonna put cameras on Ronnie [Vannucci, Jr.] while he’s playing drums.” Werner will be taking his work seriously and has viewed previous directors performances to make sure he makes this one spectacular.”He wanted to not make any mistakes that any of the other directors may have made,” Stoermer mentioned.
Herzog is known for his previous work for his 1982 film Fitzcarraldo, which he had his crew pull a steamship over a giant hill in the Amazon. Stormer mentioned fans will be in for a surprise and Herzog might somehow showcase an animal into The Killers performance.
The Killers concert for the American Express Unstaged Series will be at the Paradise Theater in the Bronx on September 18th at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
