If your a fan of The Who and still have tickets to their cancelled 1979 show, we’ve got news for you!
Lawrence Lepore, general manager of the Dunkin Donuts Center, will honor 33-year-old tickets from the group’s cancelled 1979 gig for their upcoming February 2013 performance at the venue.
The 1979 concert was cancelled due to safety concerns after 11 fans were trampled to death when the gates opened for The Who’s December 3, 1979 concert at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, Ohio. The concert was using “festival seating” at the time where the best seats available were on a first-come, first-serve basis.
So far 10 ticket holders have come forward but Lepore expects many more.
“Somewhere, someplace, someone’s got it stashed,” said Lepore. “The question is, are they willing to give that up? If they are, we’re willing to take it.”
The Who will perform at the Dunkin Donuts Center on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.
