The actor who played TV’s beloved George Jefferson has died at the age of 74.
Sherman Hemsley died at his home in El Paso, Texas. Sources are reporting that Hemsley died of natural causes.
Hemsley originated the role of George Jefferson on “All in the Family” and played him in the very successful spin-off, “The Jeffersons.”
He later played Deacon Ernest Frye on “Amen.”
Hemsley had no wife or children.
